Anyung from Boston!

Hey there, Maxwell Fischer here, writing my very first blog. I've been bugging Mary Beth to set me up on the computer for quite some time now and I'm glad to finally be getting started...

I can't believe it has been almost a year since I moved to Massachusetts. Although I remember very little about my childhood in Houston, I remember the people and places of Austin quite well and was sorry to leave it back in August of 2007. After a looooong road trip cross country I made my new home in Cambridge (across the Charles River from Boston) with Mary Beth, Dori, and Bella, the cat. I have met many new friends here and experienced many firsts (snow! airplane rides! ocean! and professional grooming!). It has been quite a year.

While Mary Beth taught kids in a school nearby (I got to visit twice) from Sept-June, I spent most of my days hanging out with Bella, reading through the collected works of Bill Shakespeare, reviewing my Latin and catching up on repeats of Law and Order: SVU. Most weekends were spent lounging and/or hanging out with my new Harvard buddies. I even got to attend a few of their parties. My top schools where I want to apply to are Oxford and the Sorbonne. My safety's Harvard.

It gets cold here during the winter months, but I enjoy the snow! I get to prounce around in it when it gets deep in the Latin School park during winter months. Even though Mary Beth gets cold after like 20 minutes, I think I could stay out there for hours. I look forward to jumping around in leaves again in a few months when fall returns too. I have decided that I'm not suited for warmer weather. Some of these 90 degree days in Boston have been brutal! More AC please.

As for the rest of my summer? I'm taking it easy and spending more time outside with Mary Beth home more during the weekdays. With Bella and Dori in Chicago for the summer, I also have a new human roommate, Sarah, who is from Korea. (I learned "anyung" from her, which means "hello" in Korean). I like her a lot and we get along very well. She misses her old dog in Korea so I spend time with her when Mary Beth is gone.

Stay tuned to my blog in the future for more updates as I continue to enjoy Cambridge and Boston. When I have more time, I'm going to post about "creepy dog bone guy" and my friends Phinnaeus and Buster from the dog park.
